600 km on a Bakfiets Cargo bike with Max, to save Max

We would like to introduce you to Andrew, and his son Max. We have had the privilege of getting to know Andrew since he first approached us in January about his vision to ride – a jaw dropping – 600 km on a bakfiets cargo bike with his charming four-year-old son, Max.

600 km on a cargo bike

But this is no ordinary ride, as this is about a father riding a bakfiets cargo bike with his son, to save his son.  On June 28, 2013 Max was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – a fatal disease without a cure…YET.

As parents with a son of the same age, it touched us deeply, so much so, that we want to do everything we can to help Max.

This is going to be an incredible, and memorable adventure for Andrew & Max, using what we believe is the true purpose of our cargo bikes – to connect parent and child through movement as one.

Andrew will be riding with Max for 600 km on the Trans Canada Trail from Ottawa to Hamilton setting off at the end of June 2015.

We will be hosting a launch event for Max’s Big Ride in April, so stay tuned.

You can help Max by visiting Max’s Big Ride and making a donation, even pledging 1 cent per kilometer ($6.00) will make a difference and most importantly, “get busy” and share Max’s Big Ride with as many people as you can!
